CVSOA
The Cedar Valley Soccer Officials Association (CVSOA) is the organization for soccer referees in the Cedar Valley.
The CVSOA was founded in 1994 by then Cedar Valley Youth Soccer Association Referee Director Phil Watson to provide an organized, certified group of referees for the club’s games. All those who referee soccer games in the Cedar Valley are members of the association which is funded by the Cedar Valley Soccer Club and run by volunteers.
Association meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Bible Church, The Tree House Meeting Room, 125 Orchard Dr., Cedar Falls, IA 50613. All are encouraged to attend.
The CVSOA is a member of the Iowa Referee Committee and shares its goal of “One Game, One Referee”. We have referees working at all levels of soccer in the Cedar Valley, from 8U recreational, through youth competitive to high school and collegiate matches. Our top referees travel outside our immediate area to work professional level games and state and regional tournaments.
Our referees are certified by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA), the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU), and the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA) depending on the organization of the games that they work.
USSF First Time Referee Clinics are typically held twice a year in Cedar Falls, before each of the spring and fall playing seasons.
