US Youth Soccer

US Youth Soccer (USYS) is the largest member of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the governing body for soccer in the United States. USYS provides a healthy atmosphere through recreational and small-sided games which emphasize fun and de-emphasize winning at all costs. Every child is guaranteed playing time, and the game is taught in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere — an excellent environment to begin your refereeing journey.

US Youth Soccer also provides excellent opportunities for motivated referees to get a higher level of experience with guidance from some of the best mentors, administrators, and assignors in the country — many of whom are current or former international or professional referees.

With an identification process that starts at the state level during the Iowa State Cup and Iowa Presidents Cup tournaments in the fall and spring, referees have the opportunity to secure a spot at the Midwest Regionals and Midwest Presidents Cup in the summer.

Referees who perform well at their regional tournaments may be selected to US Youth Soccer’s National Championships and National Presidents Cup events that culminate a summer full of top-tier matches. For referees looking to further their careers, these competitions are some of the best youth soccer events in the country.
